1. chatterbox

chatterbox指的是話多的人（尤指小孩）。

關(guān)于話嘮，talk的衍生詞talkative就表示喜歡說(shuō)話的；健談的；多嘴的。

還有形容詞talky，意思是能言善辯的；話多的。另外還有這些短語(yǔ)：

①talk sb's head off 對(duì)（某人）喋喋不休

②talk a blue streak 滔滔不絕，口若懸河

③talk the hind leg(s) off a donkey 喋喋不休

2.on the brink

完整的表達(dá)是teeter>brink表示的是（事情發(fā)生的）邊緣；始發(fā)點(diǎn)，比如形容在崩潰的邊緣：

Extreme stress had driven him to the brink of a nervous breakdown.
極大的壓力使他處于精神崩潰的邊緣。

比如接近某種狀態(tài)：

Scientists are on the brink of (= extremely close to) a major new discovery.

科學(xué)家們就快有新的重大發(fā)現(xiàn)了。

edge也表示（變故的）邊緣，當(dāng)然指的是不好的方面。

The company is on the edge of collapse.

公司瀕臨倒閉。

3. not sleep a wink

not sleep a wink也可以是not get a wink of sleep，意思都是“沒(méi)合眼，一刻也沒(méi)睡”。

I didn't sleep a wink last night with all that noise.
昨晚噪聲那么大，我根本就沒(méi)睡著。

一般“熬夜”可以說(shuō)stay up：

We stayed up (late) to watch a film.
我們熬夜看了部電影。

4. through the mill

mill的意思是磨坊，碾磨廠，磨粉廠，have been through the mill可以表示久經(jīng)磨練，飽嘗辛酸。而put sb through the mill可以表示使（某人）飽受折磨；（尤指用大量問(wèn)題）為難（某人）。

I had the interview this morning - they really put me through the mill.
我今早去面試了——他們真讓我受了番折磨。
